Question for myself: It’s July 1st — what do you think the rest of the year has in store for you?
Answer: I’m not exactly sure, but I can say this — I’m really happy with the direction this year has taken so far.
This morning, I got curious and looked up the exact date I started my Staycation. Turns out, it was May 2nd. That means I’ve been on this extended pause for two full months — and honestly, it’s hard to believe. I’m still exploring, still taking care of myself, still making art, and truly having a blast.
Now that I’ve had a taste of what retirement might feel like, I’m thinking: why not just stay on Staycation… permanently? Unless I decide to take an actual vacation — and I almost said “real vacation,” but truthfully, this staycation is real. In some ways, it’s more real than a week away somewhere. It’s intentional. It’s sustainable. It’s mine.
Later in the morning, I listened to a podcast where the host talked about having their astrology chart read. It was fascinating — not just the chart itself, but how deeply it seemed to reflect who they are. Sure, you could argue we read into what we want to see, but this felt different. The astrologer pinpointed personality traits and life themes that genuinely resonated.
So, naturally, I got curious about my own chart and what the stars might say about the rest of this year. I turned to ChatGPT — one of my favorite tools for quick, insightful research — and asked for a 2025 overview based on my birth chart. What I received was nothing short of astounding.
It wasn’t a prediction. It was a reflection — of where I’ve been heading anyway. From shifting my wellness habits to embracing my art in a more professional way, it was all there. The creativity, the realignment of relationships, the writing, the overall shift in how I approach both the business and the busyness of life — it was sketched out in the overview like a mirror held up to my current path.
Now, I’m a pragmatic person. I don’t take horoscopes as blueprints. But this? This felt validating. Maybe there really is a reason I’ve been searching for a different way to live. And maybe this quieter, more spacious version of life — this Staycation-for-life model — is the path I’ve been meant to explore all along.
Silly as it may sound, I feel more confident than ever in where I’m going and why I need to go there.
Because the alternative? The grind, the noise, the drudgery?
No, thank you. I choose the joy of now. I choose the staycation that never ends.
