100 Day Project – Day 51

Day 51: Staycation Art Retreat – Day One Reflections

First of all, I want to give myself a big pat on the back for reaching the halfway mark of my 100-day goal. While I haven’t managed to make every day consecutive, I’m proud of my consistency and the fact that I’ve made it all the way to Day 51. That’s a win in my book!

Today’s Question: How was your first day of your staycation art retreat?

My answer: Really good.

The funny thing is, once I mentally shifted into “vacation mode,” I suddenly felt more focused and productive than I’ve been in a while. It’s like giving myself permission to relax also opened the door to creativity and motivation.

After a morning walk that sparked a creative idea, I sat down and mapped out a loose plan for the day. From there, everything just flowed. Maybe that’s the secret—doing what I want to do, instead of what I should do. The whole day was filled with small joys, from a DIY mani-pedi to an afternoon adventure at the plant nursery.

Originally, I went in search of flowers, but the herbs and vegetables were so vibrant and healthy-looking that I came home with those instead. No cooking last night—leftovers saved the day—but I still enjoyed my glass of wine. And I painted! Not just a small portrait, but a full-sized figure. It turned out really well, and I felt free just following my instincts.

All in all, it was a successful first day—both in the experience and the idea itself.

This morning started off strong, too. Andy and I went for a walk, and he must sense that something special is happening. He walked three miles off leash without a hitch—such a good boy.

Next up: planting the vegetables, a strength workout, and this afternoon I’ll join my online portrait painting group. After that, maybe another little adventure. I’m trying not to over-plan—just enough structure to stay connected to the intention of this retreat without turning it into a to-do list.

I’m Nadine

Welcome to my life and the experiences that shape who I am. In February 2025, I embarked on a 100-Day Project, challenging myself to ask and answer a question every day. I invite you to follow along, explore my daily Q&A, and perhaps discover something new about yourself along the way.

Join me on this adventure of learning, creating, and embracing a slower, more intentional way of living—with my loyal companion, Andy, by my side.

Welcome to my journey!
