Question for myself on the 32nd day: What feels like the best time to write?

My answer: I really like writing late at night. Lately, I’ve been writing after my nighttime bath or shower, and I think it’s working. Whether it’s because I have more to say at the end of the day or because I’m more relaxed, this pre-bedtime ritual seems to let the words flow a little easier—and it helps me fall asleep with less effort.

I’m not a great sleeper. Sometimes I sleep better than others, but the quality is inconsistent. I’ve found that if I can let go of thoughts and reduce my anxiety, I tend to sleep more soundly. Falling asleep isn’t usually the problem—it’s staying asleep that’s the challenge.

Writing, for me, is a form of meditation. In meditation, we’re told to let go of our thoughts and clear the mind. Writing these blog entries does just that for me. What’s interesting is that I never quite know where the question of the day will take me. When I started this project, I had a list of questions I wanted to explore—and I got through many of them. But over time, the questions have become more spontaneous, often shaped by whatever’s been on my mind that day.

I love waking up with my ideas fresh, bright—or sometimes nonexistent. Morning writing doesn’t quite work for me. It feels like I haven’t had enough time to process or form a foundation for what I want to say. I tend to process things throughout the day. Afternoons are tricky; I start to fade a little. Most mornings are filled with daily tasks and workouts. Late mornings to early afternoons are when I try to focus on art and creativity. By late afternoon, my energy dips. Still, if a thought or question pops up, I’ll jot it down in my phone—it often becomes my question of the day.

Lately, I’ve been trying to build a daily rhythm that supports the things that move me forward. Easing into the morning slowly, using the most energized part of the day to create, and winding down in the evening seems to work well for me right now. It’s a gentle flow that helps me write more creatively, honestly—and maybe even sleep a little better at night.

As I settle into this rhythm, I’ve realized that writing at night gives me the space to reflect, to exhale, and to close the day with intention. It may not be perfect, and it may not work forever—but for now, it feels just right. And maybe that’s all I need.
