My question for myself: Why Was I Lost and Unable to Write?
My answer: Excuses, excuses, excuses…
It all started with a trip to my daughter’s house. I drove, which meant a large chunk of my day was spent behind the wheel, unable to access my phone or tablet. Once I arrived, I was caught up in the whirlwind of family—playing with my grandchild, tending to the dogs, and simply being present. If you read my last blog, you know how much those moments mean to me. By the time I drove home, exhaustion hit hard, leaving me drained and unmotivated to write.
Then, life threw another curveball. A sudden 24-hour bug knocked me down, leaving me tired and miserable. Despite feeling under the weather, I still had to teach my yoga classes. The last thing I wanted to do after all that was soul-search and write.
As if that weren’t enough, yesterday, I had cataract surgery on my left eye. Between the procedure itself and the pirate patch I had to wear afterward, the idea of sitting down to write was far from appealing. So, yes—plenty of solid excuses, wouldn’t you say?
But here’s the good news: I’m back. I’m motivated. I’m ready to continue this project. I didn’t fall off the rails—I just took a detour. And now, I’ve found my way back to the keyboard, committed to writing as often as I can. Because in the end, setbacks are just pauses, not endings. What matters is picking yourself up and moving forward, one word at a time.
