I have missed a few days, but I will catch up and continue to blog for at least 100 days. Sometimes life gets in the way. Today, I’m writing about what I did and noticed two days ago, and the picture above is part of the story.
It was Monday, and it was a fairly relaxed day. The temperature here in Southern Utah is extreme, reaching well over 100 degrees in the afternoon. If you want to enjoy your morning walk, you need to be on the trail no later than 6:30 or 7:00; otherwise, by the end, you’ll be feeling the heat. However, the morning walks have been fabulous, and Andy is enjoying every minute of them. His latest activity is finding dead animals or parts of dead animals and bringing them to me. So delightful! I have found a new use for his poop bags—bagging Andy’s roadkill so that I can haul it off to the trash. You might wonder why I bother to dispose of it instead of just tossing it back into the bushes. The reason is it stops him from finding the same thing again the next day. I have been there and done that multiple times.
Now that the evenings have become too hot for outdoor walks, Andy and I have started doing afternoon adventures. Sometimes we find a park with lots of shade; other times, we find dog-friendly stores to walk around, pretending we’re shopping. Our newest find is Tractor Supply in Hurricane, which is where we get Andy’s dog food. We usually order online and have it brought out to the car, but I decided we should visit the store to see what else they had to offer. It is a very nice place to take your dog. I found some toys; Andy quickly snagged a pig’s ear (which I put back), and then he proceeded to have the time of his life sniffing his way through the store. The employees were absolutely charming, and Andy scored a dog biscuit.
On our way through town, I spotted a new restaurant. For some reason, the name made me stop and think because you don’t usually associate “desert” with “farm-to-table”. I find it intriguing. So, maybe my next culinary adventure will be to stop in and sample what they have to offer.
